Temperature converter: Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin
Weather reports, ovens and scientific measurements use Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F) and Kelvin (K). Temperature conversions require an offset as well as a scale factor, unlike most unit categories.
Common temperature conversion examples
- 0 °C = 32 °F
- 100 °C = 212 °F
- 0 °C = 273.15 K
- −40 °C = −40 °F
How to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit
Use Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32. The inverse is Celsius = (Fahrenheit − 32) × 5/9. To convert Celsius to Kelvin, add 273.15.
Why is Kelvin written without a degree symbol?
Kelvin is the SI base unit of thermodynamic temperature, and its symbol is K without a degree sign.
